All eyes on Dominican Republic’s biggest ever land fraud case

Santo Domingo.- The country’s media turned their attention to the actions by National District Land Court judge Alba Luisa Beard, when on Tuesday she refused to subpoena Dominican Agrarian Institute former directors Jaime Rodríguez Guzmán and Wilton Guerrero and former Justice minister Abel Rodriguez, in the hearing of Dominican Republic’s biggest ever land fraud case, Bahía de las Águilas, Pedernales (southwest).

She said their appearance is no longer required because she was only going to verify the validity of the land titles.

The Court also issued subpoenas to the surveyors who mapped Bahía de las Águilas and surrounding lands to appear at the hearing starting 7am Wednesday.
