U.S., local investigators after millions sent by NY drug traffickers

Santo Domingo.-Dominican and American investigators are after millions of dollars sent from New York by a drug trafficking ring allegedly headed by a Dominican couple, in a case which NY State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman revealed that two defendants pleaded guilty in exchange for a 5-yeat prison sentence.

He said the ring, which operated between New York City and Duchess County, Wappinger’s, was headed by Dominican spouses Robert García and Adalgisa Hernández, arrested together with Francisco García.

Schneiderman said on May 28 a grand jury uncovered that the ring channeled the money to the Dominican Republic, and were arrested in "Operation Snowfall. "

In a statement, the official said the ring allegedly trafficked drugs between New York, Dominican Republic and Duchess County. "Those who poison our communities with addictive drugs will be brought to justice."

Also arrested in the operation were Americans Michael Novick and Richard Bernal, both from Wappinger’s Falls, who pleaded guilty to drug charges and face prison terms.
