Agrarian Institute to ready 38,000 hectares of farmland in Q2

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Agrarian Institute (IAD) on Monday sent agricultural equipment and machinery to till and prepare nearly 38,000 hectares of farmland in the second quarter, in North Yaque Low Basin, Hacienda Estrella, Azua, Barahona, Bani, and San Cristobal.

IAD director Emilio Toribio said thus far this year tractors, plows, electric motors, dump trucks, bulldozers, a front end loader, backhoes, a tow truck, a steamroller and trucks have been delivered to farmers in communities to provide service from regional offices.

He said farmers don’t have to rent or buy such equipment, while the state saves millions of dollars and provides free service.

The official also announced repairs to the electric motors used to irrigate farmlands at Palmar de Ocoa, La Canela, Santiago, La Pared and Azua among others.
