Opposition PRM deputy says Constitution should not be amended

Santo Domingo.– Opposition Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) deputy Jose Miguel Cabrera insisted that the Dominican Constitution should not be reformed only for personal interest, but when the amendment benefits the general population.

As published in El Nuevo Diario, Cabrera said during a local TV program that the Constitution can not be amended every four years to fulfill interests of the current president.

The PRM lawmaker said that the deputies of his party will not vote in favor of the proposed constitutional reform that seeks to make way for the reelection of President Danilo Medina.
