Traffic cops impound as many as 15 autos with no plates daily

Santo Domingo.- Metropolitan Transit Authority (Amet) spokesmanDiego Pesqueira on Thursday said as many as 15 vehicles are impounded every dayfor circulating on the road without license plates.

Even so the number of cars, SUVs and motorcycles drivingaround without tags appears to skyrocket.

Dozens of cars are seen on the city streets daily withouttheir license plate, despite their owners’ facing a ticket for a movingviolation.

"There are cases where vehicles lose the plate or are stolenand retrieving it takes a while," the official said, but noted trafficcops detain those without a plate.
