Hapless Accounts Chamber again threatens officials with audits

Santo Domingo.- The president of the often-ridiculed AccountsChamber on Monday asked the Central Electoral Board (JCE) for a list of recently-elected,and outgoing congressional and municipal officials, to expedite the audits andfor their financial statements.

Licelott Marte, whose threats of punishment for scofflawofficials are laughed away, said the list "is very important for us,because we have had many requests for audits both elected candidates ofmunicipalities as well as those incoming."

She said the Chamber requires the official certifications fromthose who’ve held and will hold the municipal and congressional posts.

For his part JCE president Roberto Rosario said the list withthe required information will be immediately submitted to the Accounts Chamber onceit’s compiled.
