Over 7,700 first responders hit the road for a Safe Christmas

Santo Domingo.- Doctors, paramedics and over 7,700 first responders will be deployed along the entire country’s thoroughfares as part of the “Safe Christmas” effort starts that Saturday, Dec. 23 at 2pm and concludes 6pm Christmas Day.

The Emergency Operations Center (COE) coordinates the operation’s first stage that includes 1,631 fits aid stations; 132 ambulances, 3 helicopters, 90 quick response units; 30 tow trucks, 30 mobile workshops, 9 regional command posts and 30 buses.

COE director Juan Manuel Méndez said officials of the National of Traffic and Land Transport Institute (Intrant), along with civil society representatives aim to reduce traffic accidents during the holidays, and treat cases of food and alcohol intoxication.
