Defense Ministry to help Haitians return home

Santo Domingo.- Defense minister Rubén Paulino Sem on Thurs. announced the launch next week of the security plan for the border to return undocumented Haitians to their country.

He said many Haitians travel to Haiti at this time to spend Christmas in their country.

“You know that every year for these days, after they collected the double salary, on the 24th all agricultural activities and construction activities are paralyzed, where the vast majority of the workforce is Haitian,” Paulino said.

He added that the operation, which will be carried out in coordination with the Immigration Directorate, will be deployed in the five border provinces.
