David Ortiz statement on Dominican Republic shooting

Santo Domingo.- “David Ortiz has great reverence for his home country and will always continue to give back to the people of the Dominican Republic. As stated previously, David believes he has done some good for the children and their families and he has no known enemies.

“Just to clarify, when David Ortiz was recovering from his injuries there were extensive interviews with his family members and friends about the incident at the clinic where David was being treated for his injuries. As mentioned previously, both the President and the Attorney General have contacted David to inquire about his health and recovery. David appreciates the outpouring of support.

“The Dominican Authorities have told David that they are supportive of him using his resources to aid in the investigation and David is supportive of the continuing investigation by the Dominican Authorities. Attorney General Rodriquez stated, “whatever is found by the private sector that provides peace is a good thing.” The Attorney General also added that “there are many false versions, many of them generated by criminal groups that want to confuse the public. Look at how many stories have circulated in the past four or five days, and the next day they’ve been proven to be false.”
