PLD and PRM accuse one another of breaking electoral laws by launching premature campaigns

Given the recidivism by political parties in campaigning at the wrong time, the Central Electoral Board (JCE) was forced to issue the warning once again and called on all organizations to deal with the issue this coming Thursday. The situation has caused representatives of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) and the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) to accuse each other of not abiding by the electoral laws and JCE resolutions.

The member of the Political Committee of the PLD, Yvan Lorenzo, indicated that the PRM recently organized an act “for the re-election of President Abinader in Santiago”, which he described as a provocation. “That is a provocation to the system, it is a provocation to the JCE, so that is why the JCE must take action on the matter because we constantly see how, as a result of desperation, Luis Abinader’s officials are hanging gigantic fences and doing jumps seeking re-election,” said Lorenzo.

He assured that with this action the system of political parties is harmed, for which “the intervention of the JCE is necessary to stop the PRM.” He assured that in the Senate the study of the electoral laws that were sent by the members of the JCE is in the final phase.
