The Dominican government rejects US accusations of racism

The warning from the US Embassy in the country that the Immigration Directorate detains African-American citizens because of their skin color infuriated the ruling party and opposition politicians, who questioned the occurrence of these events. The Dominican government deemed the document presented by the US on Saturday to be “manifestly unfounded, untimely, and unhappy.”
“The terms of said statement contradict the excellent bilateral relationship that exists between the Dominican Republic and the United States in all areas: political, economic, military, social, and cooperation, whether in the matter of drug trafficking, human trafficking, arms smuggling or ammunition, corruption, or the fight against impunity, among others,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
“Our country is the United States’ first commercial partner in the Caribbean and the sixth in Latin America,” he added. “We have been one of America’s most trusted allies in ensuring that the international system remains free, open, prosperous, and secure for all nations. In this spirit, we established the Alliance for Democratic Development to promote democratic values and human rights.”
Of course, the RD is going to reject the US accusation of racism.
The US sent an alert advising US citizens having darker skins and of African descent to be careful when they come across Dominican authorities and immigration seeking illegals. It has received reports from these group of citizens of uncomfortable encounters with Dominican authorities at ports of entry.
There are internal encounters, roundups, on the streets by determined authorities selecting dark skinned (black) populations they assume to be Haitian and therefore illegal. These populations are detained and deported to Haiti. Those selected having legal documents are still detained. Because of these behaviors the US does have a concern for its citizens to prevent them from being swept up alongside illegals and be thrown out with the bath water into Haiti, although very unlikely It is the questionable behavior, disparate treatment, by Dominican authorities directed to dark skin US citizens at ports of entry the US wants to suppress.
Very well Said! And, I concur.
the likelyhood of something like that happening is slim to none.
Sammy Sosa is a reflection of the issues in DR
Biden, Macron, trudeau’s regime at it again, the last thing they did was turning Brazil into a puppet sate
Not if the Chinese have something to say about it!! They want to play puppet master too!
Hipocritas… Chantajistas!
Did the United States forget What they did 1 year ago at the Texas Borderline? They had the Border Agent patrol on horse whipping dark skin people and preventing them from getting food and
tricking and deporting them back to Haiti. That is racism.
Just look at Sammy Sosa……………………..
Yah, just cuz they did it doesn’t mean we have too! But too many Eye-phones in DR recording chaotic deportations. If we can deport folks the same way the US and Canada deports it’s Haitians and Dominicans ‘humanely’ but with no F’s given, we’d be str8! Just ain’t gonna happen though.
The US calling the kettle black! No pun. But truth be told; DR is not built for mass anything, especially this quick. It’s gonna be a black eye ( no pun) for DR no matter what they do. By the looks of how they are corralling and chasing people (presumably Haitians) notes just how unprepared they are. Nothing systematic about it! The 4th estate back in the US will eat this up. Madison Ave. Is eagerly waiting by the phone.
