Young man who entered the Las Américas airstrip suffers from mental disorders, says Cesac
José Francisco Peña Gómez, a young man with apparent mental disorders who entered and violated the restricted area of the Las Américas International Airport, was referred to justice this Thursday morning, according to the Specialized Airport Security Corps (Cesac). According to the Cesac report, the young man, who has not been identified because he was not carrying any personal documents, confessed during the interrogations that he had no intention of addressing any aircraft at the time of his arrest.
According to the agency, at approximately 08:30 a.m., a Cesac Security inspector on duty at the airport’s Cargo Platform observed an intruder who penetrated the interior limits of the restricted perimeter. They stated that after his arrest, he was taken to the airport terminal’s police detachment. “I never intended to get on any plane, but only to get to know the airport and watch the planes fly away,” the young man admitted after his arrest.
Following an investigation by airport security, the young man was handed over to the person in charge of the Tourist Police at the terminal to face legal action in accordance with due process.
