Dominican government evacuates another 30 nationals from Haiti

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Government has carried out another evacuation of 30 nationals from Haiti who sought assistance to leave the country due to escalating violence and insecurity.

The operation, coordinated and monitored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, involved four helicopters from the Dominican Republic Air Force, a branch of the Ministry of Defense. The evacuees, comprising 15 men, 9 women, and 6 minors, departed from the Dominican Embassy in Haiti and landed at the Jimaní Joint and Interagency Task Force heliport in the Independencia province.

Upon arrival, they were received by personnel from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) and military officers. Subsequently, most of them were transported by land to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, where Miguel Reyes and Cándido Mercedes, directors of Protection of Nationals and Consular Affairs, respectively, along with protocol officers and family members, awaited them.

Similar to previous evacuations, the Haitian Foreign Ministry granted authorization for Dominican Government aircraft to enter its airspace for this operation.

The Dominican Government remains in continuous communication with nationals still in Haiti through its diplomatic mission, ensuring their safety and well-being.
