ETED contingency plan Implementation for the rainy season

Santo Domingo.- In anticipation of forecasted heavy rains and to safeguard the integrity of the nation’s high-voltage electrical grid, the Dominican Electric Transmission Company (ETED) has activated a contingency plan. This proactive measure aims to mitigate potential instability caused by adverse weather conditions and ensure uninterrupted electricity supply.

ETED assures the public that service security remains paramount, emphasizing ongoing monitoring of power lines and autotransformers, particularly within the 138 kV network, during the rainy season. Collaborating with other entities in the electricity sector, including distributors, ETED and its partners have implemented various security measures to safeguard infrastructure from external threats.

As part of these initiatives, coordinated efforts with Electricity Distribution Company of the South (EDESUR) and Electricity Distribution Company of the East (EDEESTE) include proactive maintenance activities such as tree pruning, substation cleaning, and circuit maintenance nationwide to uphold service reliability.

Moreover, strategic response brigades will be strategically positioned across the country to swiftly address any incidents or damages that may occur. To further enhance readiness, the Energy Control Center will deploy additional operators as a precautionary measure and immediate response mechanism.

ETED urges the public to stay informed through official channels and exercise caution during adverse weather conditions. A meeting convened at the ETED Energy Control Center brought together representatives from maintenance, operations, military security, and communications sectors to reinforce collaborative preparedness efforts.
