JCE mandates suspension of Government social support plans ahead of elections
Santo Domingo.- On Monday, the Central Electoral Board (JCE) mandated the Government to halt the implementation of any extraordinary social or community support initiatives conducted by central public administration institutions, as well as autonomous and decentralized public entities.
In a statement released on social media, the elections body reiterated that, in accordance with the Constitution and the Organic Law of the Electoral Regime, these institutions are prohibited from providing economic bonuses, issuing cards or special benefits, and granting pensions.
Furthermore, the JCE prohibited any expansion of payroll within central government and autonomous and decentralized public entities. It also forbade advertising from these institutions and municipal offices that directly or indirectly promotes candidates competing in upcoming elections.
Additionally, political propaganda within public institution premises was declared off-limits.
These measures aim to uphold electoral fairness and ensure all candidates compete on equal footing, concluded the JCE statement.
“Buying of government supported votes suspended” should be the headline.
