“The entire national territory is voting in a peaceful, orderly manner and as brothers that we are all Dominicans, that today we are simply going to make a decision and at the end of the day we are all going to unite always fighting in favor of the Dominican Republic, of advancement, progress and the best quality of life for all Dominicans,” Abinader said in front of the media cameras.

The head of state arrived at around 10:24 a.m. to vote. He was received with applause and hugs when he exercised his right to vote in these congressional and presidential elections at the aforementioned polling station, where 11 polling stations are available for 5,612 eligible voters.

Abinader called on the population and parties of the Dominican political system to massively exercise their right to vote to guarantee the country’s socioeconomic development.

“I ask all Dominicans, of all parties, to go, to vote, to use that right, but that it is also a civic duty in favor of the candidate they want. But the important thing is that they exercise their right to vote and that they continue to do so as they have done so far: with peace, brotherhood, because I repeat we are all Dominicans and we are going to unite as we have done,” he said.

When asked how he felt, he said he had high energy and was optimistic.

“My energies are always high, but I feel very good and very optimistic. We are going to wait for the Central Electoral Board (JCE) to give the results,” he said.

Incidents

Abinader said Sunday that he has no knowledge of any electoral crime registered during the voting process in these congressional and presidential elections.

“So far we do not know of any reports of incidents, but we also leave that to the communication of the Central Electoral Board (JCE),” said the president of the Republic, who was received with applause from his supporters. At the same time, they shouted, “four more years.”
