Over 60 Police Stations to receive connectivity and technological upgrades nationwide

Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of the Interior and Police (MIP) and the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel) have signed an agreement to equip 63 police stations nationwide with internet access and advanced technology, starting in Cristo Rey on November 11. The initiative, named “Connected Detachments for Citizen Security,” aims to enhance police operations and complaint management by providing necessary technological infrastructure and training for officers.

MIP Minister Faride Raful emphasized that many stations currently lack adequate technology for effective functioning and highlighted this project as part of a broader reform of the National Police. Indotel’s President, Guido Gómez Mazara, described the agreement as crucial for modernizing the police and improving response capabilities in terms of citizen security.

The first phase will target detachments in provinces like Santo Domingo, Azua, and San Juan, particularly in the deep south region. Indotel will manage the financial resources, technological installations, and cybersecurity measures, reaffirming the commitment of both organizations to enhance public security and reduce the digital divide in the Dominican Republic.
