Infotep advances construction of Hotel and Tourism School in Barahona

Barahona.- The director general of the National Institute of Technical and Professional Training (Infotep), Rafael Santos Badía, visited the construction site of the new School of Hotel and Tourism in Barahona, located at the former Guarocuya Hotel. During his tour, he engaged with engineers and workers, emphasizing the project’s importance for vocational training, tourism, and regional development.

Santos Badía highlighted that the school will enhance technical training for young people while boosting the local tourism industry, creating economic opportunities and positioning Barahona as a premier destination. He confirmed that construction is expected to be completed by the end of the year, with a significant impact on the region’s socioeconomic growth.

The facility will accommodate around 200 students and offer specialized training in hotel reception, gastronomy, bar and restaurant services, IT, languages, and room service. It will also include classrooms, laboratories, a cafeteria, a multipurpose room, a swimming pool, and other essential amenities to support hands-on learning in the hospitality sector.
