President Abinader and First Lady attend tribute to Rubby Pérez

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader, joined by First Lady Raquel Arbaje, participated in a posthumous tribute to merengue icon Rubby Pérez, who tragically lost his life in the Jet Set nightclub collapse. The ceremony took place at the Eduardo Brito National Theater, where President Abinader, along with First Lady Arbaje and Culture Ministers Roberto Ángel Salcedo and José Ignacio Paliza, paid respects at the singer’s coffin.

The late artist’s daughter, Zulinka Pérez, deeply moved, performed the last song she had sung with her father before the tragic incident, “Color de Rosa,” as well as “Cuando se ama” by Laura Pausini.

The tribute gathered various figures from the artistic, political, and business communities to honor Pérez, who is celebrated as one of the most powerful voices in merengue.

The funeral service, open to the public, began at 10:00 a.m. and ran until 4:00 p.m. Afterward, a Christian burial will take place at the Puerta del Cielo Cemetery at 5:00 p.m.

This has to end. The same politicians and their rich and influential circle of friends get to walk away from this unscathed. Their is no independent who can detain and arrest corrupt bureaucrats who will face no consequences because their last names are Espaillat and have government connections and prosecutors wouldn’t dare open investigation.
