Nearly a thousand illegal immigrants detained on December 1
Santo Domingo.- The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) reported that interdiction operations conducted on Monday, December 1, 2025, led to the detention of 587 people with irregular immigration status across several provinces and localities. The actions took place in areas including Cañongó and Dajabón along the border, Los Ríos in Santo Domingo, Verón in the East, Felipina de Bahoruco in the South, as well as Barahona and Villa Vásquez in Monte Cristi.
The agency also received 407 individuals transferred by the Armed Forces and the National Police after separate interdiction efforts carried out in their respective jurisdictions. These referrals came from the Dominican Army (233), the National Police (63), and the Specialized Border Security Corps (CESFRONT), with 111.
In total, 994 people were processed for irregular immigration status, and 917 were deported following established procedures. The DGM stated that these operations form part of its routine immigration control strategy, conducted in coordination with security and border protection agencies nationwide.
