What the U.S. Embassy in the Dominican Republic said about the capture of Nicolás Maduro

The White House announced this Saturday that the United States successfully carried out a large-scale military attack against Venezuela, in which President Nicolás Maduro and his wife were captured and subsequently expelled from the country.

The official statement, released by the US Embassy in the Dominican Republic and confirmed by the White House, indicates that the operation was carried out in coordination with US law enforcement.

According to the message posted on social media by the White House, “President Nicolás Maduro, along with his wife, has been captured and airlifted out of the country.”

The offensive comes after months of tensions between Washington and Caracas, marked by the US military deployment in the Caribbean and the Venezuelan Government’s accusations of threats of intervention.
