Have you made plans yet? This is what the weather will be like this weekend

In addition to cold front number 23, which is located north of the Caribbean, a trough will have an impact today. This afternoon, some moderate to heavy rain could develop over the north, northeast, northwest, Central Mountain Range, and east of the country.

An extended mass of polar air and the impact of two cold fronts will cause temperatures to drop in the Dominican Republic starting next Sunday: the very cold weather will last between 5 and 6 days in much of the country.

This was announced on Friday by meteorological analyst Jean Suriel.

“These will be the indirect effects of a series of winter storms that have affected the United States in recent days: the polar air mass will move towards the Caribbean region in the next 48 hours, approaching Dominican territory from Saturday night,” he explained.

Suriel said that the drop in temperatures will be very significant in the mountainous area and the Cibao: even frosts and sub-zero temperatures will be recorded in the highest mountains of the Dominican Republic, such as Valle Nuevo, Valle del Tetero, Valle de Bao, and Valle de Lilís.

Rainfall will decrease this Friday as the trough moves away, although some showers could occur in isolated areas of the Dominican Republic.

Saturday will also be partly cloudy, with moderate rain in the late afternoon in the south and southeast.

Meanwhile, a new trough is expected to arrive on Sunday, as cold front number 24 approaches, increasing the downpours again.

Significant rainfall is expected throughout the morning, afternoon, and evening, increasing the potential for urban flooding.
