RD Vial expands roadside assistance for Holy Week 2026 travel surge
Santo Domingo.- The RD Vial Trust has strengthened its roadside assistance capacity ahead of the “Conscience for Life: Holy Week 2026” operation by adding 30 new units to the fleet operated by the Military and Police Commission (COMIPOL) of the Ministry of Public Works.
The new equipment—including rescue trucks, cranes, mobile workshops, and a fire truck—brings the total number of units deployed on highways nationwide to over 200, marking the highest operational capacity in the service’s history. Authorities also confirmed that around 3,600 personnel will be mobilized to support the Emergency Operations Center (COE) during the holiday period.
All assistance services will be coordinated through the 511 hotline, which provides 24/7 support for drivers across the country. In addition, RD Vial has implemented preventive measures at key traffic corridors such as the Duarte, Las Américas, and Baní bypass highways, aiming to ensure faster response times and safer travel during one of the busiest periods of the year.
