COE expands green alert to six areas amid trough effects

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) expanded its green alert to five provinces and the National District due to a trough affecting weather conditions across the country.

According to the agency, satellite imagery and radar reports show increased cloudiness generating moderate to heavy rainfall, isolated thunderstorms, and wind gusts. The provinces under alert are Santo Domingo, the National District, San Cristóbal, Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, and San José de Ocoa.

Authorities urged residents to avoid crossing rivers, streams, and ravines with high water levels, as well as to stay away from recreational water areas in affected zones. On the Atlantic coast—from east of Saona Island to Monte Cristi—operators of small and fragile vessels are advised to remain in port due to strong winds and hazardous wave conditions.
