Albert Pujols appointed manager of Dominican team for 2026 World Baseball Classic

Santo Domingo.- Albert Pujols has been officially named manager of the Dominican national team for the 2026 World Baseball Classic. The announcement was made by Nelson Cruz, the team’s general manager, along with a working committee composed of baseball legends, including Juan Marichal, Vladimir Guerrero, Pedro Martínez, Adrián Beltré, David Ortiz, and Edwin Encarnación. The decision was unanimous, with Pujols chosen for his leadership, experience, and influence both on and off the field.

A champion manager with Leones del Escogido in Dominican baseball and the Caribbean Series, Pujols expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and emphasized his commitment to building a strong, competitive team. He highlighted the importance of unity and dedication in securing another championship for the Dominican Republic.
