Dominican chain to build 2 hotels for US$92.0M at Punta Cana

Santo Domingo.- Dominican-based chain Karisma Hotels & Resorts and the State-owned Reservas bank will build two hotels with 463 rooms at Uvero Alto, Punta Cana (east) at a cost of US$92.0 million.

Karisma president Rafael Felix, who made the announcement Friday afternoon, said the chain h as presence in the Maya Riviera, Jamaica, Colombia and Croatia.

Felix, a native of Barahona, met with president Danilo Medina at the National Palace, accompanied by chain deputy director Jorge Felix and Enrique Ramirez, general manager of Reservas, which will provide US$51.0 million to fund the project for the hotel. ..

Felix said the project to be built jointly with TUI Travel, one the of the world’s largest tour operators, will employ more than 5,000 people, adding that it will be Nickelodeon’s first hotel outside the US.
