The police and judicial authorities are investigating the circumstances involving the death of a couple whose bodies were found inside the Bahía Príncipe Hotel, in the eastern region of the country.

The lifeless bodies of Nathaniel Edward Holmes, 63, from Virginia and Cynthia Ann Day, 49, from Washington, United States, were lifted by the medical examiner Marisandra Santana in the company of the prosecutor Yubelkis Rosario Santana and taken to the regional forensic pathology that operates at the Antonio Musa Hospital for autopsy.

According to reports, there are no signs of violence and the authorities are conducting further investigations to determine the cause of death.

The National Police spokesman, Colonel Frank Félix Durán, explained that the evidence recovered and the clinical history of both, suggest that they “may have died of hypertension.”

“Many medications were found for this type of disease and both suffered from hypertension, but until Inacif offers an examination, we can not go further,” said police spokesman Durán.
