Jamaica deploys troops to Haiti

Jamaica.- The Jamaican government announced it will send 24 troops to join a Kenyan-led multinational security force in Haiti. Prime Minister Andrew Holness revealed that the contingent, consisting of 20 members from the Jamaica Defence Force and four from the Jamaica Constabulary Force, will provide monitoring, planning, and logistical support. The troops are set to arrive in Haiti on September 12, with the possibility of more deployments in the future as the mission expands.

Holness emphasized Jamaica’s strong ties with Haiti and its commitment to finding a lasting solution to the country’s security challenges. The deployment is part of Jamaica’s broader involvement in the Caribbean Community (Caricom), which has been actively supporting Haiti’s political transition.
