Cyclonic/Hurricane season begins with downpours

Santo Domingo – The cyclonic season, which begins this June 1, will be met with scattered showers, possible thunderstorms, and occasional gusts of wind in northeastern regions, the Caribbean Coastal Coast, and the Central Mountain Range.

The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) also predicted that rainfall would occur in the afternoon and will be caused by the incidence of a high-pressure system and the effects of the Southeast wind.

For Greater Santo Domingo, the weather forecasting organization sometimes predicts cloudy skies, with isolated showers.

Temperatures will continue to be hot, due to the time of year, with minimum values at 23 °C and 25 °C and maximum values at 31 °C and 34 °C.

For its part, the Emergency Operations Center (COE) maintains five provinces on green alert due to the possibility of flooding of rivers, streams, and ravines and sudden floods.

In that sense, Santiago, La Vega, Monseñor Nouel, Monte Plata, and Hato Mayor are under alert.
