Coercive measures requested for detainees in Operation Buffalo NK

Santo Domingo.-  Just before midnight, the Public Prosecutor’s Office requested coercive measures against those arrested in Operation Buffalo NK, a crackdown on an international criminal network. The request was submitted by the 3 a.m. Friday deadline.

The detainees are accused of participating in a powerful network involved in drug trafficking, contract killings, extortion, and money laundering. Authorities seized approximately two tons of cocaine from Colombia and Venezuela. This organization allegedly coordinated large drug shipments from South America to the Dominican Republic using speedboats and fishing vessels, with the drugs destined for Puerto Rico, the United States, and Europe.

The National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD) carried out 33 raids across several provinces in the Dominican Republic, arresting more than ten individuals, including key leaders Rafael Ynoa Santana, known as “El Cojo” or “El Don,” and Isidoro Rotestan Clase, alias “El Men.” The operation involved over 400 agents by air, sea, and land in Santo Domingo, Puerto Plata, María Trinidad Sánchez, La Romana, and Samaná.
