Julia Sánchez appointed as new UN Resident Coordinator in the Dominican Republic
Santo Domingo.- Julia Sánchez, a Peruvian national, officially presented her credentials as the new United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Dominican Republic on Wednesday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Vice Minister of Multilateral Foreign Policy, Rubén Silié, received her credentials on behalf of Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez.
Silié praised the United Nations System for its long-standing support, emphasizing its key role in the development and modernization of the Dominican Republic. Sánchez expressed her excitement about her new role, noting her personal connection to the country, where she lived for eight years during her childhood. She looks forward to contributing to the nation’s sustainable development, aligned with the 2023-2027 cooperation framework.
Sánchez brings over 25 years of experience in development cooperation and humanitarian action. Her previous roles include Secretary General of ActionAid International, President and CEO of the Canadian Council for International Cooperation, and Regional Director for Asia at the Centre for International Cooperation and Studies.
