ISFODOSU concludes academic cycle with “Countries and Culture Fair 2024”

Santo Domingo.- The Instituto Superior de Formación Docente Salomé Ureña (ISFODOSU), through its Eugenio María de Hostos campus in Santo Domingo, marked the culmination of its Intensive English Diploma for Teachers (DIID) with the vibrant “Countries and Culture Fair 2024.”

Held in the campus’s multipurpose court, the cultural fair provided a dynamic platform for students to showcase their linguistic proficiency and cultural knowledge gained during the course.

Divided into five thematic stations, participants represented Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Cuba, and the United States, offering attendees a multicultural experience. Each station immersed visitors in the traditions, history, and customs of these countries.

Through engaging oral presentations in English, students from the Artistic Education and Physical Education programs highlighted various aspects of each nation, including geography, gastronomy, traditional attire, dances, and notable figures. Iconic representations such as the Statue of Liberty, El Chavo del 8, and a traditional Cuban son musician added a creative flair to the event.

Cristina Rivas, Executive Vice-Chancellor of the campus, emphasized the significance of mastering a second language for both personal and professional growth. “Speaking English opens doors and provides countless opportunities,” she stated, highlighting the cognitive and social benefits of bilingualism.

Erendira Hernández, Coordinator of the English Diploma, expressed her satisfaction with the event’s success, attributing it to the collaborative efforts of both teachers and students.

“Countries and Culture Fair 2024” celebrated learning and intercultural exchange, reflecting ISFODOSU’s commitment to holistic student development.

The event was attended by directors, coordinators, and various members of the academic community from the Eugenio María de Hostos campus.
