Centro Cuesta Nacional showcases Pico Duarte in new edition of “Orgullo de Mi Tierra”

Santo Domingo.- Centro Cuesta Nacional (CCN) marked its 90th anniversary with the sixth edition of Orgullo de Mi Tierra, focusing for the first time on a specific destination—Pico Duarte. The event, held at the Eduardo Brito National Theater, was attended by President Luis Abinader, diplomatic representatives, and CCN executives. This edition highlights the ecological, cultural, and historical significance of the Dominican Republic’s highest peak and its role in adventure tourism.

As part of the initiative, CCN launched a 320-page book by Dominican author Frank Báez, featuring 172 photographs and illustrations, as well as the documentary El Pico Duarte, filmed across six expeditions. Additionally, a special merchandise collection dedicated to Pico Duarte is available in CCN stores. The project also collaborates with three key communities—Mata Grande, Sabaneta, and La Ciénaga—to support local guides, rangers, and small agricultural producers, strengthening ecotourism and sustainable development in the region.

Through Orgullo de Mi Tierra, CCN continues its mission of promoting Dominican identity, celebrating natural and cultural heritage, and supporting small businesses. The program includes the Aquí con Corazón initiative, which connects local farmers with CCN’s retail network, expanding opportunities for sustainable growth.
