Leonel accuses government of turning border into “revolving door” for undocumented immigrants

Montecristi.- Former President Leonel Fernández emphasized the need to restore order on the Dominican Republic’s border and curb the trafficking of undocumented Haitians. During a ceremony in Montecristi, he stated that under his leadership and the Fuerza del Pueblo (FP) party, effective measures would be taken to ensure national sovereignty. He criticized the current government’s failure to control immigration, specifically accusing it of ineffectively handling deportations. Fernández pledged that his administration would establish clear border control, enhance security at detention centers for undocumented immigrants, and demand respect for the country’s territorial integrity.
He also criticized the ruling PRM administration, describing it as ineffective and disorganized, with promises left unfulfilled. According to Fernández, the PRM’s inability to govern has led to setbacks, particularly in Montecristi. He called for a change, pledging that the Fuerza del Pueblo would bring prosperity and well-being to the region, starting with a shift in the country’s leadership after the next elections.
He criticizes the current government but exactly did he do in his first two administrations to curb illegal migration? Was he the one who built a border wall..?
He did same revolving door thing. He is the pot calling the kettle black. Is there no shame?
This corrupt former president doesn’t seem to go away
He was in power for 12 years, and did absolutely nothing to curb the illegal invasion of Haitian and now he’s criticizing the current administration for trying to control this massive issue.
