Constanza, DR.- In a move to support community development through technology, Altice Dominicana has partnered with the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) to power its new smart classroom in Constanza with high-capacity internet services.

The new educational space was officially opened in the municipality of Constanza, with Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader and Education Minister Miguel de Camps in attendance, along with other university and community leaders and Altice representatives.

This smart classroom will serve 1,020 students who previously had to travel to nearby cities like Bonao, La Vega, and Santiago for classes. Now, they have local access to cutting-edge technology and quality academic instruction.

Connecting students with opportunities

“At Altice, we know that when technology meets education, incredible things can happen in people’s lives,” said Gilda Vásquez Goico, Corporate Vice President of Altice Dominicana. “This smart classroom not only connects more than a thousand students to knowledge but also to real opportunities for their personal and professional growth. We are proud to contribute solutions that positively impact communities like Constanza and strengthen the country’s future.”

Vásquez added that the classroom is equipped with a 50 Mbps symmetrical internet connection, a fiber optic network, a modern digital screen, and sound equipment for live class broadcasts. In addition, Altice, in collaboration with equipment manufacturer TCL, donated 20 tablets for student use.

“Our commitment to UASD Constanza goes beyond connectivity,” Vásquez added. “We will also coordinate internship opportunities for students to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting, strengthening their preparation and facilitating their entry into the workforce. We are betting on young talent as a driver of national development.”

The new UASD campus in Constanza will offer priority degrees in Early Childhood Education, Basic Education, Agronomy, and Nursing, among others, enhancing the region’s academic offerings and making a direct impact on local development.
