ADOFA: domestic rice production meets demand

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Association of Rice Factories (ADOFA) announced that national rice production surpassed 10 million quintals, guaranteeing enough supply to fully meet domestic demand without resorting to imports under DR-CAFTA. The sector highlighted that this achievement strengthens food security and reduces external dependency.

ADOFA also underscored that the industry has respected the prices agreed upon with producers while keeping retail prices within the limits established by the National Rice Commission. This measure, they said, has ensured market stability and a steady supply of rice for Dominican households.

However, the association pointed out ongoing challenges in storage and logistics that could affect future harvests. ADOFA called for coordinated efforts between the government, producers, and members of the National Rice Commission to overcome these obstacles and further strengthen the sector’s growth.
