Iberojet–Iberia alliance set to boost European tourism to Punta Cana

Punta Cana.- Iberojet has signed an interline agreement with Iberia to enhance its long-haul network, connecting destinations such as Punta Cana, Cancún, Palmerola, Mauritius, Santa Clara, and the new route to Querétaro — launching on December 20 — with more than 20 cities across Spain and Europe.

The partnership, now available through major global distribution systems (GDS), will simplify travel from airports in mainland Spain, the Canary and Balearic Islands, and major European cities including Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Naples, Florence, Turin, Toulouse, Nice, Vienna, Lisbon, Porto, Copenhagen, Prague, Budapest, and Athens. Passengers will benefit from streamlined connections via Madrid, enjoying a single booking, one boarding pass, and baggage checked through to their final destination.

In its initial phase, the interline agreement will offer standard fares that include one checked bag. The initiative strengthens Iberojet’s connectivity and enhances Travelplan’s tour packages that feature the airline’s flights. Iberojet’s commercial director, Mario Domínguez, stated that the alliance marks a key milestone in improving both connectivity and customer experience.

Wondering, if this agreement leads to Fly Level SL a low-cost long-haul airline, majority owned by Iberia at 50.1% to be included in the route in the near future? It is noteworthy to mention Level terminated service to Punta Cana in 2017. However, its link to Iberia may open the route again. Time will tell.
