Santiago prepares for Monumental Marathon 2025
Santiago de los Caballero, DR.- Santiago is preparing to host the ninth edition of the Monumental Marathon, scheduled for Sunday, November 30, bringing together 3,000 elite and amateur runners in one of the country’s most anticipated sporting events. Participants will compete in 42K, 21K, and 10K categories along an internationally certified AIMS route that was recently renovated to enhance safety and dynamism.
The marathon has become a flagship competition in the Caribbean, drawing athletes from 22 countries and serving as a qualifying event for the Abbott World Marathon Majors Wanda Age Group Championship. During the press conference, Organizing Committee president Luis A. Núñez R. encouraged the people of Santiago to support the runners and respect alternate routes for safety. Technical director Emilio Martínez outlined the logistics, noting early-morning road closures, cash prizes exceeding US$100,000, and the rapid sellout of registrations in September.
The event also showcased the official 2025 campaign video, “The route that unites us,” with sponsorship from HOMS, La Fabril, CDN, and Corporación Zona Franca. Beyond competition, organizers emphasized that the Monumental Marathon has become a powerful city brand, promoting Santiago as a leading tourist, cultural, and sports destination where community, health, and local identity come together each year.
