Roberto Álvarez meets UN officials to discuss logistical support for Haiti security mission

Santo Domingo.- Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez met with Atul Khare to discuss the Dominican Republic’s potential support for the deployment of the Gang Suppression Force (GSF) in Haiti.

During the meeting, both sides explored logistical assistance the country could provide, including the transit of personnel and equipment, medical services, and the possible establishment of a support base for the United Nations Support Office in Haiti. Álvarez clarified that Dominican cooperation would be limited strictly to logistical support from its territory.

UN officials also outlined the role of UNSOH in facilitating the GSF deployment and its coordination with the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti. The meeting included senior UN representatives and Dominican foreign affairs officials, reinforcing ongoing international coordination on Haiti’s security situation.
