Santo Domingo.- The Altice Foundation has unveiled a new telepresence classroom at the Instituto Politécnico Loyola (IPL), providing 13,398 students with access to advanced digital learning tools. The initiative, part of Altice’s commitment to improving digital education in the Dominican Republic, includes all necessary technological equipment, high-speed fiber internet, and mentorship opportunities.
The new classroom is designed to support the creation of educational content and broadcast live master classes on the IPL’s official platforms. It will also be used for conferences, academic events, and educational programs aimed at enhancing student skills.
Mentorship and career opportunities for students
As part of the agreement, Altice volunteers will provide mentorship to students, guiding them in their studies and helping them master digital tools. The partnership goes further by offering students the chance to apply for internships or become eligible candidates for various job openings at the telecommunications company.
The project represents a significant investment in technology, with the classroom featuring a robust 50 Mbps internet connection and eight IP addresses to ensure flexible connectivity. The total investment was RD$3.6 million, and Altice will also provide the monthly internet service at no cost to the institution for two years.
This is the 13th digital platform the Altice Foundation has opened in the country since 2018, continuing its mission to support the academic preparation of young people and help close the digital divide. The agreement was signed by Danilo Ginebra, CEO of Altice and President of the Altice Foundation, and Father José Victoriano, S.J., rector of the IPL.
