Authorities raid travel agency “De Vacaciones en RD”

Santo Domingo.- Authorities raided the offices of the travel agency “De Vacaciones en RD” at Plaza Oasis on Independencia Avenue, following the cancellation of several trips that left many tourists stranded in Colombia. Outraged customers took to social media to complain about paid vacation packages that were never fulfilled, prompting lawsuits and refund requests against the agency.

The raid triggered a quick response from affected clients, some of whom arrived at the agency’s premises to verify the situation firsthand. One individual stated, “I was at the gym when I received a message from our group chat. I came to see if it was true, and indeed, they were raiding the place.”

The conflict intensified after the cancellation of several trips, including 2-for-1 packages to Colombia. Hundreds of clients, lured by the agency’s representative, Enmanuel Sánchez Ortiz, had paid $1,600 for vacation itineraries to Bogotá, Medellín, and Cartagena. The packages promised transfers, certified guides, travel insurance, hotel stays with breakfast, and multiple tours, including city tours, visits to iconic landmarks, and a boat tour in Cartagena.

Authorities are now investigating the case to uncover the facts and determine accountability.
