Government claims 142,292 Dominicans achieved economic independence

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader reported significant achievements in the Dominican Republic’s social programs during a recent press briefing. He noted that the Supérate program has successfully made 142,292 Dominicans economically independent. The briefing, held in the Las Cariátides Hall of the National Palace, focused on “Overcoming Barriers.”

Abinader detailed various social support initiatives. The Aliméntate Bonus now supports 1,496,618 families, increasing from RD$825 to RD$1,650 per month. The Bonogás Hogar program, benefiting 1,340,672 households, saw an increase from RD$228 to RD$470 per month. Additionally, over 500,000 low-income families receive the Bonoluz benefit, which rose from RD$692 to RD$1,450 per month.

Other programs include “Aprende,” which supports 73,108 beneficiaries with bi-monthly subsidies between RD$300 and RD$1,200, and “Avanza,” aiding 121,397 individuals with bi-monthly amounts between RD$400 and RD$1,400. The Supérate Disability Fund provides RD$6,000 per month to 5,359 beneficiaries.

The President also introduced the Communities of Care program, launched with the United Nations System in Azua and Santo Domingo Este. This initiative has trained over 1,000 caregivers who receive RD$21,500 per month, health insurance, and occupational risk coverage.

Regarding program expansion, Abinader highlighted the establishment of Supérate Gastronomic Improvement Centers in Boca Chica, Básima, and Capotillo, and plans for two new centers in Santiago and Barahona. Over the past four years, more than 240,000 training sessions have been completed, with additional centers in Los Ríos-Bahoruco, Pedernales, and Los Alcarrizos under construction for 2025.
