Businessman José Fanjul Jr. appointed President of Central Romana Corporation, Ltd

La Romana.- The Board of Directors of Central Romana Corporation, Ltd. has appointed Mr. José Fanjul Jr. as President of Central Romana, while Mr. Alfonso Fanjul and Mr. José “Pepe” Fanjul will continue to serve jointly as Co-Chairmen of the Board and Co-CEOs of the company.
With the appointment of José Fanjul Jr. as President of Central Romana, Mr. Eduardo Martínez-Lima Gonzalvo and Mr. Leonardo Matos García have also been named Executive Vice Presidents, joining Mr. Ramón Menéndez to lead the company’s executive operations.
“These appointments ensure the renewal and strengthening of Central Romana’s corporate structure, securing its continued business presence and projecting future economic investments that will promote its growth and benefit the community,” the company stated in a press release.
In addition to his new duties, José Fanjul Jr. has also been reaffirmed in his position as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Central Romana Corporation, Ltd.
These changes have taken place within the 40th anniversary since when in 1984 brothers Alfonso and Pepe Fanjul, renowned businessmen from sugar industry of the United States, became major shareholders of Central Romana alongside their local partners Ramón Menéndez, Carlos Morales Troncoso, and Eduardo Martínez Lima, the latter two now deceased.
Since then, Central Romana has continued to advance its commitment and corporate vision in a socially responsible manner, diversifying its business across different productive sectors in the Dominican Republic. It remains the nation’s leading sugar producer, a pioneer in real estate tourism development, marina and yacht club operations, and the country’s first free trade zone park. Additionally, it operates an international airport, cruise port, medical and health center, and the first nationally certified meat processing plant under the international FSC 22000 quality and safety standard, among other important companies.
