Abinader: authorities regularly intervene in Friusa

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader stated that authorities frequently intervene in the Friusa community in Bávaro due to the high number of irregular immigrants, primarily Haitians. He linked the area’s growth to Punta Cana’s booming construction sector, which relies heavily on foreign labor, but emphasized that the government maintains strict immigration enforcement. Regular operations are conducted to address the situation, including recent interventions.

Abinader acknowledged that Friusa has long been a hub for immigrants due to urban expansion but reaffirmed that the Dominican Republic cannot bear Haiti’s migration burden. He highlighted the government’s intensified deportation efforts, claiming the country expels more migrants weekly than the U.S. ever has.

Amid rising calls for stricter immigration policies, the Ministry of the Interior and Police authorized a “patriotic march” organized by the Antigua Orden Dominicana for March 30 in Friusa. The protest will demand tighter controls on irregular immigration. Authorities have set conditions for the demonstration, requiring adherence to public order regulations and coordination with security forces.

He’s talking out of both sides of his mouth. If you really didnt want illegals working on construction expansion etc , wouldn’t you chase after the owners of these of companies first?. Oh we forgot, your family is deep in the resort business tourism sector. wouldn’t want to piss of those corporate sponsors.
