Foreign Minister Álvarez to address Haiti crisis at OAS General Assembly

Santo Domingo.- Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez will represent the Dominican Republic at the 55th General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS), taking place in Antigua and Barbuda from June 25 to 27. According to the Foreign Ministry, Álvarez will focus on the ongoing crisis in Haiti, urging the international community to fulfill its commitments to assist the neighboring country amid growing regional security concerns.

The assembly, themed “Building Resilient and Inclusive Economies in the Americas,” will also serve as a platform for Álvarez to promote the upcoming Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Public Security in the Americas (MISPA VIII), set for July 16–17 in Santiago de los Caballeros.

Additionally, Álvarez will lead the second ministerial meeting of the Summit Implementation Review Group (SIRG) in preparation for the 10th Summit of the Americas, to be held in Punta Cana this December. The summit will focus on building a secure and sustainable hemisphere rooted in shared prosperity. He will also meet with OAS officials and representatives from Central American countries to discuss regional priorities.
