Alert levels are maintained for possible urban flooding.
The agency indicated that the most affected provinces include Santo Domingo, San Pedro de Macorís, Monte Plata, Hato Mayor, Monseñor Nouel, as well as regions in La Vega, Santiago, Puerto Plata, Azua, San Juan, Elías Piña, and Independencia. Due to these conditions, Indomet maintains a meteorological alert in five provinces, as the risk of rising rivers, streams, and ravines, and potential flooding in both rural and urban areas, remains. No warnings or discontinued alerts have been reported.
The provinces on green alert are: Santo Domingo, San Pedro de Macorís, the National District, Monte Plata, Hato Mayor, and Monseñor Nouel.
Indomet warns that rain will persist throughout the afternoon and early evening today, with a tendency to gradually decrease toward nightfall. Although we are in the summer season, the cool east-northeast wind will help keep temperatures mild, especially in mountainous or rainy areas.
Tropical Depression No. 2
On the other hand, Indomet confirmed the formation of Tropical Depression No. 2, located approximately 335 km east-southeast of Tuxpan, Mexico, moving west-northwest at about 11 km/h. This system is forecast to strengthen and could become a tropical storm before making landfall. However, due to its trajectory and distance, it does not pose a risk to the Dominican Republic.
