Mayor’s Office inaugurates Areíto Park

Santo Domingo.- With support from the Ministry of Public Works, Garrigó Seguros, and Gatorade, the National District Mayor’s Office has inaugurated Areíto Park, an 8,000-square-meter ecological mini-park designed to benefit around 7,500 residents of Los Cacicazgos in Santo Domingo. Dedicated to the memory of artist and philanthropist Margarita Billini Morales, the park adds a vibrant green lung to the city, home to 20 native and endemic tree species, including mahogany, the Dominican Republic’s national tree.

Areíto Park features walking trails, an outdoor gym with Gatorade-donated equipment, security cameras connected to 911, LED lighting, and informational signage to promote recreational use and community safety. The park also operates under a co-management agreement led by Yasmina Veras, ensuring sustained care and community involvement.
