Special Prosecutor’s Office opens in Sosúa to tackle trafficking

Puerto Plata.- The Public Prosecutor’s Office has inaugurated a special prosecutor’s office in Sosúa, Puerto Plata, to address crimes such as pimping, human trafficking, the commercial sexual exploitation of minors, and micro-trafficking. This initiative is part of the second phase of “Operation Atlantic,” a comprehensive strategy focused on tackling serious offenses that affect the safety and reputation of this popular tourist destination.

Attorney General Yeni Berenice Reynoso stated during the opening that the operation was the result of more than four months of undercover investigation. She warned those involved in criminal activities that authorities are fully aware of their actions, declaring, “Sosúa will never be the same after Operation Atlantic.”

Reynoso emphasized the importance of community support in this process and confirmed that joint patrols will continue to ensure the protection of residents, tourists, and local businesses, aiming to restore security and trust in the area.
