Dominican students from New York begin “Origins of Excellence” program in Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo.- A group of 30 Dominican students residing in New York City has arrived in the Dominican Republic to participate in the “Origins of Excellence” program—a weeklong initiative that honors the academic achievements and cultural identity of Dominican youth abroad.

The program officially begins with a visit to the National Palace, where students will be welcomed by President Luis Abinader in recognition of their talent, discipline, and commitment. Throughout the visit, students will engage in a series of educational, cultural, and institutional activities, including tours of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chamber of Deputies, and the National District City Council. They will also attend a conference on dual citizenship and diaspora voting rights.

The initiative is organized by the Dominican Consulate in New York and the Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and supported by various Dominican institutions, including the Ministry of the Presidency, Ministry of Culture, Congress, and LMD. The program aims to strengthen ties between Dominican youth abroad and their homeland, while fostering leadership and civic engagement.
