U.S. backs digitalization of Dominican justice system with tech donation

Santo Domingo.- The Council of the Judiciary (CPJ) of the Dominican Republic has received a significant donation of technological equipment from the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) of the U.S. Embassy in Santo Domingo. This support, under the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI), aims to boost data storage, enhance cybersecurity, and accelerate the digital transformation of the Dominican judicial system.

The donation is part of a 2013 cooperation agreement between the United States and the Dominican Republic, designed to promote more efficient, transparent, and secure access to justice. The contribution is being delivered in two phases and includes over 100 modern workstations, advanced firewall systems, data backup solutions, scanners, UPS units, microcomputers, Fortinet switches for secure network management, and Imperva-based database protection tools.

This technological upgrade will enable the Judiciary to process more digital files, improve transparency and real-time access to judicial data, and strengthen anti-corruption efforts through traceable and secure systems. It also enhances protection against cyber threats and facilitates greater coordination with law enforcement and other institutions in combating organized crime.
